Kaspar Meglinger was a 17th-century Swiss painter mostly known for his 72 original paintings for the Dance of Death painted sometime between 1620 and 1645. While the Dance of Death has most notably and popularly been illustrated by Hans Holbein, the Meglinger plates are extremely impressive and desirable works of art. Like Holbein before him, Meglinger paints detailed works features skeletons, or death, interacting with human life.
