BACKGROUND:
Paul Scheurich is considered one of the most important porcelain modelers of the 20th century. He created a total of 102 figures and groups for the Meissen porcelain manufactory. Inspired by models from the 18th century, especially creations by Kaendler and Bustelli, he endowed his porcelain figurines with elegance and refinement with his characteristic facial expressions, gestures and movements. The present figure of the dancer Chiarina in posing on an oval base adorned with roses and a black mask. The bodice of her dress decorated with ?Indianische Blumen? and her full skirt is heavily frilled with white blue-hemmed ruffles.
