LOT NOTES:
Visionary artist Bill F. Bowers was born and raised in Massachusetts. After living many years in Georgia, he is now back living in his native state. Bill graduated from Boston University in 1953. He has six children, nine grand-children and seven great-grand-children. Bill has a Black Belt in Judo and is a classically trained violinist.
The motto of this artist is "Lots of people, action!" Depictions of historically significant event are a particular favorite of Bill’s to paint, such as: Custer’s Last Stand; Battle of The Alamo; Noah’s Arc; and, Sinking of The Titanic.
He paints modern scenes, too, which capture various elements of daily American life- he seem intent on preserving those images of traditional American culture. Examples of these are found in: River Baptism; Subway; Junk-Yard Used-Auto Parts; Carnival; and, Freeway.
He had permanent displays and paintings owned by: Gainesville College; Quinlan Fine Arts Center; and, The Roswell Fire Museum. His version of The Pony Express Rider hangs in Duluth, Georgia post office, and, his works have been part of the prestigious annual Trinity School Art Auction in Atlanta.
Three of Bill’s works were selected by The Museum of American Folk Art, New York City, for exhibition at: Novus Gallery, Atlanta, sponsored by Very Special Arts Georgia.
A special tour sponsored by The Georgia Artist with Disabilities, Inc. chose Bill’s Downtown Kennesaw, circa 1902, from among 350 submissions of which only 25 were finally selected.
One of the artist’s paintings helped raise funds for the annual auction to benefit The Ronald McDonald House.
In 1991, the artist participated in a reception and exhibition of Georgia Folk Art, organized by The Georgia Council for the Arts at the Office of the Governor at The State Capital.
Bill has created an Early America slide presentation witrh musical narrative of 20 paintings with music composed and performed by the artist. He has pained a collection of 12 Natural Disasters, and, he has a forthcoming series entitled 12 Un-Natural Disasters.
The artist’s works were selected for exhibit at the 1993 and 1994 Cherry Blossoms Festival, Macon, Georgia.
In September of 1993, Georgia Very Special Arts chose Bill’s painting 200 Years of Democracy as the sole Georgia representative at the 200th anniversary celebration of the U.S. Capital- said painting hung in the Capitol rotunda for a month- after which all exhibits were retired to The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center, Very Special Arts Permanent Museum, also located in Washington D.C.
In 1994 there were exhibitions in which the Artist participated:

* Resolution Trust Company

The Veterans Administration in their annual wall calendar for the year 2003 for the month of December used Bill’s snow scene entitled The Salvation Army Band, downtown Boston, circa 1938.
The artist is registered with The Museum of American Folk Art in New York City, He is spiritually aligned with Salon des Refuses, Paris, France.
