Condition: Good condition.

Notes: Appears to have never been framed. Held in a flat file collection. Photograph is laid on paper backing board that is held in mat with mylar corner mounts.

Provenance: From the estate of a fellow California photographer.

About the artist: Ruth Bernhard (American 1905-2006) is a avant-garde female photographer who worked out of New York and California. Bernhard was heavily involved with the lesbian subculture in the artistic circles in New York city in the 1930s onward. Bernhard met and worked with many famous painters, sculptors and photographers, and was the photographer chosen to produce the photographs for the very first Museum of Modern Art catalogue. Bernhard's work ranges from simple still lifes to complex nudes. Her work is held in public and private collections around the world.
