Description
Presented is a sword slide, or Sui. The original use of the Sui was to strap it to the side of the sword scabbard where it would hold the sword against the belt. Han Dynasty style. ca. 206 B.C. - 220 A.D. Black, gold, and cream Jade. High relief carving of a water dragon on display. This is most likely a Qing era ancestral tribute jade. Measures 4 1/8" long x 7/8" wide x 3/4" thick. See: Sotheby's March 18, 2014, Lot 159 for quite similar pweriod example.
