Augustin Belloste was a 17th-century French surgeon most known for his highly influential medical treatise ‘The Hospital Surgeon.’ First published in 1696, this work was a major success during the 18th-century and was useful in describing how to repair bone fractures. Belloste was particularly successful in setting broken bones and even experimented with his ‘Bellosti liquor’ to help care for these types of wounds.
