Description
Circa 1830, Edgefield, South Carolina, likely Pottersville origin. The piece having a good ovoid form with interesting ant or insect trap surrounding upper portion flanked by double handle configuration. Two segments of the lower rim have been broken away and then reglued. Some scattered wear to surface but overall good condition. H13 3/4" Note: The jar was pictured in the book “Great and Noble Jar†by Cinda Baldwin, see p. 165 figure 6.3. Each handle is missing.
