Description
Circa 1845, Edgefield, South Carolina, attributed to the Rhodes Pottery Operation. The handsome stew pot having an ovoid body with throwing ridge at upper section and centered by bold kaolin slip floral decoration and bruised iron decoration at the top of the handle terminal. The piece looks to retain its original lid. The back side of the rim having an old restoration and the handle having an old restoration which can be properly conserved by a professional. Otherwise good overall contain with only minor wear to surface, some very tight and small hairlines in the clay body at the rim. Remnants of the potter or glazers hand print at the base. H7"
