HELEN COOLIDGE WOODRING (AMERICAN, 20TH CENTURY) PORTRAIT OF A NATIVE AMERICAN, a vibrant example of large size, signed lower left, inscribed note in artist's hand attached verso, reading, in part, "Indian model / done in studio of Winold Reiss / (1929 - 1930) ? While I studied / with him and lived at the old / Barbizon Plaza uptown". Housed in a modern frame. Circa 1930. 40 1/4" x 26 1/2" OA.
Very good overall condition. Not examined out of frame.
Provenance: Property descended in the family of Harry Hines Woodring, 25th Governor of Kansas and Secretary of War 1936-1940.
