Notes: This work is an terra cotta bodied vase form with an exaggeratedly heavy handle. Stamped signature at the bottom edge.
Provenance: from a Denver, Colorado collection.
About the artist: Betty Woodman (Connecticut/Colorado/New York/Italy 1930-2018) was born in Connecticut in 1930. Woodman studied ceramics at Alfred University. Woodman is recognized as one of the first ceramic sculpture artists to have their work recognized by the art community as fine art. Woodman also had a major retrospective of her work show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
