Description

A Japanese Satsuma Censer. Having a pierced cover surmounted by the figure of a foo lion, which is flanked on either side of the shoulder with perched foo lions, and decorated overall with "Thousand Faces" motif all resting on three supports with masks at the knees and scroll feet. Marked with a red and gold painted seal at the underside. The mouths of all of the foo lions have some slight roughness, and there appears to be a small filled crack at the underside, and there is one small repair at one of the figure's head. 9 1/2" wide, 10" high. ESTIMATE $200-300
