Description
A Chinese gold glazed ground porcelain vase with a wooden stand; dating from Republic period. The vase has a 6-character mark on the bottom, the front and back have famille rose roundels of women.
Dimensions are: 4 1/4 inches tall X 4 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There is minor wear to the glaze on the shoulders and neck, but overall good condition.
Provenance: From the estate of Albert T Quon in Beverly Hills, CA. Mr. Quon wasFrom the estate of Albert T Quon in Beverly Hills, CA. Mr. Quon was born in China and came to US as a teenager. He graduated from USC in 1928 and established a successful import/export business in both China and the US. He was the first Chinese American to purchase property in Beverly Hills. He also became the first Asian admitted to the Los Angeles Rotary Club, and the first Asian to serve on the Board of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. He donated millions of dollars to his Alma mater, USC. There is a statue of him on USC campus and a classroom was named after him.
