This lot consists of an Fine Art print on paper, HAND SIGNED "Egon Schiele" inside a neat little box at the bottom right of the frame. This disarming composition describes a fleeting moment: a dozy, red-cheeked baby sits enthroned in soft textiles on his mother's lap. Each figure casts a look in the viewer's direction, with varying levels of intensity. The mother's beautiful face is framed by auburn hair and accentuated by darkly encircled eyes. The child looks captivated, fascinated by something he sees in our direction.The artist's linework is so fine, the execution so gestural - almost casual - that one could imagine this mother and child have been caught mid-glance, perhaps from their seat on a park bench, or from across a crowded metropolitan street. Soft, uncontrived, and utterly masterful, this magnificent little study has been done in the Modern Expressionist style of Egon Schiele (Austrian, 1890-1918). Overall measures 8.5" x 11.5".
