Central Asia, Tibet, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A finely-cast bronze statue depicting the Buddha seated upon a lotus throne. His hands are displayed in the Bhumisparsha Mudra (literally "touching the earth") position, with his right hand over the right knee reaching towards the ground with an open palm while his left holds a small bowl of medicinal herbs. His serene facial expression denotes the manifestation of inner peace, with almond-shaped eyes and drooping ear lobes providing a sense of calmness, and his evenly-arranged hair curls culminate with a flaming ushnisha on top. Dressed in an exquisitely-detailed robe with a partially-bared chest, this is a peaceful and beautiful example from Central Asia! Size: 7.25" H (18.4 cm).
