Description
Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. An elegant bronze oinochoe with a round, pyxis-like lid that fits over its mouth and is held in place by an iron and bronze chain. A curved handle is attached at the shoulder and under the rim with leaf-shaped applied finials. The lid is decorated with a series of incised concentric circles. The surface of the vessel has aged to a gorgeous mottled blue-green and dull, dark bronze patina. Size: 7.45" W x 12.7" H (18.9 cm x 32.3 cm)

Condition
Small area of repair on the lower part of the foot, with a few barely visible cracks on the surface. Handle has been reattached, with repairs well done and difficult to see. Gorgeous patina!
