Spanish Colonial Childs Portrait Painting. This piece was purchased by Mr. Lornez a prominate Southern California Latin American Art Collector from Frederick W. Davis Collection. Fred Davis owned a gallery in Mexcio City and was one of the early collectors of Mexican Art.Fred Davis lived from 1877 and died in 1961. This piece appears to be 19th century. Appears that the back canvas has been relined and re-stretched at some point. The image is of a young child holding a rose and a doll. Child is wear what appears to be pearls and diamond earring, indicating the child was from a well to do family. Painting is in very good condition, colors are vivid. Can see where the remains of an earlier strectcher is evident on the painting. Slight craquelure. Painting is an oil on canvas. Painting measures 23 x 18, with frame 26 x21. No Visible signature on the painting.
