Pair of silk ribbons, early 18th c., apparently from the Philomathean Society of the University of Pennsylvania: One with engraved image by Peter Maverick (early American engraver, 1780 - 1831), approx. 11" in length; the other with engraved seal and motto "Sic Itur Ad Astra.," approx. 8.5" in length. **** The Philomathean Society is one of the earliest American literary societies. **** Lot of 2, as-is, refer to photos.
