Description
Large 19.5 in. painted metal dial signed "Made by Baird Clock Co., Chicago, Ill." with blue and white painted advertising around the border for "Diamond Black, Leather Oil", has fancy black hour numbers and pierced Maltese hands; surrounded by a large wooden bezel. Original brass 8 day spring driven time only movement has a long pendulum rod and brass covered bob. Case has a short drop below with hinged door having a cutout aperture exposing the pendulum and paint decorated advertising on metal which reads "Warranted Satisfactory, The Globe Oil Co., Cleveland, O". Condition: Upper dial is overpainted throughout the advertising and dial center is repainted; brackets have been added behind the bezel to secure the dial which was originally secured by 2 screws in the front, has original setup instructions label inside. This is a rare clock as Baird was only in Chicago for about a year, c.1897. 31.5 in. high x 21 in. wide x 4.25 in. deep. Weight: 6.75 lbs.
