Description

AMERICAN POSTAGE STAMP STYLE PIECED QUILT, hand-stitched, central on-point square containing 256 scrap fabric blocks within two square borders in similar construction, quilted with four pairs of doves and diamonds in center, plume and floral vine to inner border, and floral outer border, applied binding, plain backing, all cotton. Missing label for The Virginia Quilt Project, date 6/10/89 and registration number LE-23. Circa 1930. 87 3/4" x 90 1/2".
Very good to excellent overall condition, top with small area of staining at one pair of doves and other scattered small stains, light discoloration to edges, backing with small spots of stains and slight discoloration.
Provenance: From a Northern Virginia private collection.
