PENNSYLVANIA DOUBLE IRISH CHAIN PIECED QUILT, hand-stitched, 16 repeated patterns with grid quilting, framed by sawtooth border, wide outer border with plume and diagonal quilting, applied binding, three-paneled plain backing, all cotton. Circa 1870. 82 1/4" x 80".
Very good to fine overall condition, top with several small stains and discoloration mainly to fold lines, backing with area of moderate staining, scattered spotting, and discoloration to fold lines.
Provenance: From a Northern Virginia private collection.
