Description
Ancient Greece, ca. 6th century BCE. A lovely hollow-cast head of a ram with a thick neck, a rounded head, a pair of perky ears projecting above a pair of backwards-curving horns, almond-shaped eyes with incised pupils, a conical snout with two delineated nostrils, and a gaping mouth full of incised teeth. The animal head exhibits scattered areas of orange-red pigmentation, suggesting this was once left at the foot of a temple or altar as a votive offering. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 3.5" L x 3" W x 2" H (8.9 cm x 7.6 cm x 5.1 cm); 3.125" H (7.9 cm) on included custom stand.
