Europe, Venice (modern day Italy), found in western Africa, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful necklace comprised of twenty-eight crimson-hued glass beads strung on a modern string. Two of the beads are flattened and ovoid, and the rest are cylindrical in shape. The cylinder beads, though red on the exterior, have canary-yellow interiors. Trade beads played a major role in the age of European exploration and colonization, serving as currency on multiple continents. Strung in modern times, this wearable necklace is a fabulous example of trade throughout the developing world! Size: 15" L (38.1 cm).

Strung in modern times and wearable as shown. Expected age-commensurate surface wear, small nicks and chips to peripheries of some beads, and light fading to coloration, otherwise intact and very good.
