Description
PRESSED LOOP / LEAF VASE, canary yellow (reacts under black light), medium slender bowl with a gauffered seven-flute rim, raised on a hexagonal double-knop stem and single-step panel-top circular foot, wafer construction. Probably Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. 1840-1860. 10" H, 3 3/4" DOA rim, 4 1/4" D foot.
Undamaged. Some flaking/mold roughness at the joint of the wafer and standard, as made.

Provenance: Property from the estate of Dr. Stephen Goodyear, Charlottesville, VA.

Catalogue Note: Dr. Stephen Goodyear was the son of Anson Conger Goodyear, the first president of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Like his father, Dr. Goodyear was a devoted collector of fine art and antiques.
