Description
D-050 Interesting dirk patterned after the American Navy dirks of the early nineteenth century. Brass eagle head shaped pommel, straight crossguard with rounded finials and chain hand guard. Pearl grips with simulated red diamond-shaped inlays. 8 5/8" curved blade with floral etchings and "victory". Reverse similar with the words "Pure Steel". Brass throat and tip on the deep red checkered leather scabbard. This dagger was probably made during WWII in North Africa. It possibly was patterned after an American Navy dirk which was captured during the Barbary Wars. It was common for local craftsman to sell their wares and souvenirs to the American servicemen who served in the North African Campaign. II
