AFTER SEBASTIAN MUNSTER (GERMAN, 1488-1552) CITY VIEW OF WITTENBERG, GERMANY, hand-colored, on laid paper, the image titled "Wittenberg in Obern Sachsen" (sic), and having "WITTENBVRG" (with reverse N) in image, placed in the upper half of the page with German text above and below, engraved portrait of Martin Luther below right corner of image, reverse having additional text and engraved portrait of a male, likely a clergyman wearing mitre, probably from Munster's "Cosmographia" or related later edition. Unframed. Probably first half 17th century. 12 3/8" x 8" OA, image 5" x 6 1/8".
Excellent condition overall, expected toning, some minor stains or discoloration, some minimal pencil notations to bottom edge.
