West Africa, Mali or Niger, Tuareg peoples, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden tent pole with a dramatic X-shaped upper portion above deeply incised, tight lines down the cylindrical body. The nomadic Tuareg traverse the southern Sahara, carrying their richly decorated homes - tents - with them on their journeys. Size: 4.95" W x 19.4" H (12.6 cm x 49.3 cm); 19.7" H (50 cm) on included custom stand.
