Description
Oceania, Papua New Guinea, ca. mid 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden post made to decorate the "men's house" in the village, featuring three mask-like faces, all decorated with curves, swirls, and circles that mirror traditional tattoos worn by members of this society. An intricate carving that allows us to imagine the beautiful carvings that decorate traditional Papuan architecture. Size: 3.35" W x 27.5" H (8.5 cm x 69.8 cm); 28" H (71.1 cm) on included custom stand.
