DIETZ NO. 1052 FONT KEROSENE STAND LAMP, translucent coral pyriform font with central ring and worn gilt decoration, alabaster/clambroth Baroque base, brass connector, No. 2 Taplin-Brown collar. Fitted with a period setup comprising a No. 2 Holmes, Booth & Haydens/E. F. Jones lip burner, thumbwheel marked "HOLMES BOOTH & HAYDEN'S. / PAT JAN 24 1860 / E. F. JONES PAT JAN 11TH 1859", spring-loaded Atwood/Blakeslee spring and clip, George Nielson's corrugated deflector, and a colorless lip chimney. Font: Dietz & Co. Third quarter 19th century. 13 1/4" H to top of collar, 5 1/2" SQ base.
Excellent condition, font undamaged, base with scattered annealing lines, as made, foot with expected minor flakes/roughness, connector with denting and a poor attached appearance. Burner with some wear to finish, chimney fitter with normal roughness.
