Fine Chinese porcelain Huluping vase. Double gourd resemblance, bulbous lower section converging into a lemon-shape midsection and finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top. Delicately decorated around the exterior with sinuous dragons clutching flaming pearls while soaring through cumulus cloud form and smoldering mist. The lower dragon is glazed in a light blue and the upper one is done in a black ink which contrasts well with the lemon-yellow underglaze. Dragon Long is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fertility, and has many other attributes. The glaze terminates slightly before the foot rim, showing a mixture of creme-colored clay and white glaze flecks left after the firing process. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman.


Mark on base, a six blue underglazed seal script -ZhuanShu- characters reign mark; QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing.
