Antique Ming blue Chinese Jar, with traditional lantern motif. Sturdy porcelain jar with robust shoulder region curving into a feminine waist that extends all the way to the bottom forming the raised circular base. Depicted is two youth playing amidst a large shrine hung with many lanterns. According to ancient Chinese culture, a lit lantern would dispel human darkness, present the illumination of Buddha and free people of plights. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the base left unglazed with grayish creme-brown ground and dark spots of firing marks.
