A Chinese Longquan ware celadon lantern vase, dating from the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). heavily potted tall vase on a curved base leads to a very long body expanding and tapering gently to a thick short neck and rounded rim. incised with cross hatch design around entire body, under bands of banana leaf lappets design at the shoulder and Ruyi design at neck. all under thick glaze
H. 14" (35.5 cm)
Provenance: Estate of William J. Hughes,Former NJ Congressman, ambassador of Panama, passed away in Oct 2019, he was a 10 term congressman from New Jersey from 1974-1994,and then became a diplomat from 1995-1998.
