Lustrous Ming Meiping or Plum Vase skillfully painted with vibrant glaze. Thick Chinese porcelain shaped into a traditional Meiping form, with a narrow base, wide body, narrow neck, and a small opening. The exterior decorated with hand painting in blue underglaze. Bright gliding dragon traverses thrashing Li-Shui waves in search of the flaming pearl. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman. The unglazed foot base reveals grayish creme-brown ground and dark spots of firing marks.
