Stunning Chinese Lu-Jun Glaze Brush washer. Shallow basin circumscribed with a curvaceous wall of porcelain. The wall is covered in robins-egg glaze. Opaque turquoise-blue glaze submersed overall with a finely mottled dark purplish-blue. Robins egg glaze was used from the Yongzheng period until the 19th century and is called lu-Jun or furnace Jun in China, signifying that a connection was made with the Jun glazes of the Song Dynasty, and since it was fired in a kiln at a lower temperature than the porcelain itself. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman.
