Charles Betts (C.B.) Waite (American, 1861-1927), 12 (includind 3 double-sided) photographs (most black and white and some sepia tone), several mounted on cardstock, ca. 1900 CE. Charles Betts (also known as C.B. and sometimes mistakenly called Charles Burlingame) was a Californian photographer during the 1880s and 1890s - taking photos of Southern California landscapes, missions, and sights in other Western states prior to going to Mexico in 1896. There C.B. opened his own studio in Mexico City and stayed until 1913. During his time in Mexico, Waite was a very prolific photographer - addressing various themes such as indigenous peoples, landscapes, citiscapes, famous sights, flora, and fauna - during the Porfiriato (reign of President Porfirio Diaz). Some favorites in this group are "The Belles of San Luis Rey - All Over 100 Years Old", "Isthmus Cove from Stage Road, Santa Catalina Isl" and "Popocatepetl from Ameca." Size: most photos measures 5" L x 8" W (12.7 cm x 20.3 cm)

Condition
Cardstock backing a few show tears, discoloration, and foxing. Two photos with small losses to edges (Old Mill at San Juan Capistrano Mission" and procession scene). Still in relatively good condition.
