(5) Pieces of Contemporary Art Pottery by Makoto Yabe, classically trained Japanese ceramic artist and teacher who worked in the Boston area, including: Rectangular stoneware plate with impressed fabric texture surface, artist's cypher on base, 7" x 10 3/8"; Rectangular stoneware plate, with incised tree decoration, textured surface, unsigned, 8" x 9 3/4"; Square plate with scalloped rim, multicolor splash glaze and incised decoration to center, log cabin design slip decoration beneath glaze and on base, artist's cypher on base, 8 1/2" square; Bowl with copper red over blue glaze, narrow foot, illegible mark on base, 2 1/2" high, 6 1/4" diam.; and Stoneware bowl with black glaze and red and yellow swirl decoration, unglazed base, unsigned, 3" high, 4 1/2" diam. All pieces in good condition, no chips, cracks or damage.
