Description

"The Jungle Book" and "The Second Jungle Book" by Rudyard Kipling, both First Editions, 1894 & 1895, London, MacMillan & Co. In fine blue morocco leather binding with raised spine, gilt titles and decoration, all edges gilt, silk endpapers, in blue cloth slipcase with gilt title. 7 1/2" x 5", 212/238 pages. Both with the original coves and spines at back. Near fine condition, scattered light foxing.
The first has a 1929 notarized inscription from Eugene Field's son and daughter authenticating this as his father's personal copy. Field, the Chicago "Poet of Childhood", was a great admirer of Kipling.
