A MING DYNASTY (1368-1644) STYLE BLUE AND WHITE STONEWARE SCULPTURE OF THE GUANYIN PLAYING FLUTE, 19TH/20TH CENTURY, the goddess of compassion sits on a blue rock with scrolling head dress over a curled bun hairdo, with third eye, gazing left in calm thought, with buddha lobed ears, and creased neck, within scrolling hair tendrils above a collar necklace, wearing a shawl and robe painted with bamboo leaves, holding a bamboo flute to the lips, on a raised custom wood plinth base, the back marked with a Jiajing (1522-1566) style six character mark. Height: 27" Width: 11" Depth: 8"

A mild chip at one finger, some dust debris within crevices, a crack near robe end, some yellowed glaze pooling at proper right near foot, some crazing and kiln bursts, but otherwise in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
