AN ENGLISH VICTORIAN PAPIER MACHE PARCEL GILT MOTHER OF PEARL INLAID LACQUERED SLIPPER CHAIR, MID 19TH CENTURY, the shaped arched crest rail with acanthus leaves, inlaid fragments of mother of pearl, and gilt painted scrolling moss, over an arched lancet shaped panel polychromed with flower blooms and long leaves, within a boarder of seaweed scrolls, flanked by William and Mary style finial topped, gilt scrolling leaf decorated twisted columns joined by quatrefoil floret blocks, terminating in stylized fleur-de-lis mother of pearl inlaid blocks over bobbin turned supports, joined by a lower serpentine, arched rail with inlaid mother of pearl, acanthus flourish and bellflower, all above a rectangular seat covered in Beauvais style tapestry upholstery, within a seaweed scroll gilt painted boarder, raised on cabriole legs, joined by an arched skirt, gilt painted with grotto style tendrils.
