Description

Pair of French Neoclassical-Style Marble and Bronze Garniture Urns

first quarter 20th century, the white-veined and chocolate brown/black marble bodies mounted with gilt-bronze leaf-molded pistil-form handles and knops, and sitting on notched, molded bases.
h. 17-1/2", w. 6-3/4", d. 5"

Condition

On one urn, there is a 5-1/2" x 3-3/4" spherical repair with subsequent filler to the body, and a 2-5/8" repair to the lid that extends the diameter of it. On the neck of the same urn, there are also a few tiny scattered losses along some of the veining in the marbe. On the other urn, there is a 3" repair to the base, and a 1" x 1/4" filler repair to the center of its body. Both lid rims exhibit small scattered nicks and chips. Bronze mounts are intact on both vases. Due to the veining in the marble, the repairs are not overtly noticeable. Additional photographs are recommended.
