An Egyptian steatite scarab with amuletic cartouche of Thutmose III, Ramesside, c. 1200 1075 BC, the body and legs well-carved with good detail. On base, 'Hetep Her Maat' beside the amuletic cartouche of Thutmose III. Petrie attributed this type to the pharaoh Merneptah since 'Hetep Her Maat' is his praenomen, but that attribution is not universally accepted. CF. Jaeger 1982, pp. 188-9. 18 x 13 mm.
