Large bronze called "Venus" by Giovanni Amendola,dated 1886. Bronze figure: 33"high. Base: 9.5" wide. This is a large impressive perhaps magnificent bronze of a beautiful goddess in the Belle Epoque style,pulling her hair up in a sexy playful mood. She is standing on a pillow, that is held up by 4 swans. The bronze is signed:"GB Amendola 1886" and the foundry, "Matteo Schilizzi, Napoli", as well as an inscription in the bronze that the original(probably original marble carving) is in a house and then mentions the owner of the house in Italian. In Salerno his Pergolesi Dying can be seen at the opera house.
