Description
A Faberge gilded silver and guilloche enamel napkin ring, workmaster Anders Nevalainen, Saint Petersburg, 1899-1908, with original scratched Faberge inventory number 17287. Of oval section, enameled in transparent mauve over an engine-turned ground, within opaque white borders, the interior of the ring engraved in Cyrillic "to my little bee / 6 VI 1915 Odessa" (moei pchelke), with a Cyrillic monogram beneath a noble crown. Gross weight: 87 grams. Dimensions 1 1/2 in. h (3.8 cm), 2 1/2 in. w (6.5 cm). Another napkin ring by Nevalainen in salmon pink enamel with scratched inventory number 18803 was sold as part of the Kazan Collection, Christie's New York, April 15, 1997, lot 101. A comparable but slightly smaller napkin ring by Nevalainen with scratched inventory number 13184 sold at Christie's New York, April 8, 2008, lot 285.
