Description
1st millennium BC. A triangular-bladed dagger with rounded shoulders and a subtle midrib to the blade; the hilt with lateral flanges which contained an organic inset grip on both faces and an elliptical pommel flange; to the upper end of the blade a crescentic guard flanking the midrib. Cf. Legrain, L. Luristan Bronzes in the University Museum, Pennsylvania, 1934, item 42. 301 grams, 34.5cm (13 1/2"). Property of an Essex gentleman; formerly in an English collection formed in the 1980s.
