2nd millennium BC. A bronze axehead with ovoid socket and ribbed tongue-shaped blade, two elliptical piercings to each face extending to the socket; mounted on a custom-made socket. See discussion in Godard, F. The Art of Iran, London, 1965, p.76-82. 304 grams, 12.5cm including stand (5"). Property of a London gentleman; previously in a private collection in Cologne, Germany.
