Description
3rd-2nd millennium BC. A bronze mount or plaque, rectangular in form with high-relief image of facing Anzû, with its wings and legs spread. 38.71 grams, 29mm (1"). Property of a Mayfair lady; formerly in an important London collection formed since 1965. Anzû is a monster or lesser divinity, who was conceived by the pure waters of the Apsu and wide Earth, or as son of Siris.
