1st-2nd century AD. A bronze furniture fitting formed as a lion mask with abundant mane, pierced at the sides of the mouth to accept a drop handle, stud to the reverse. 30 grams, 35mm (1 1/2"). Property of a North West London gallery; formerly in a 1980s collection. [No Reserve]
