Description
Middle Kingdom, 2133-1797 BC. A wooden model of a boat with seven figures, one standing, all with dark brown pigment to body, black pigment to hair and eyes; separate arms extended forward; oar guide to the stern, two panels of hieroglyphs to either side of the hull. See Winlock, H. Models of Daily Life in Ancient Egypt: From the Tomb of Meket-Re at Thebes, Montana, 2011 for discussion. 725 grams, 45cm (17 3/4"). From a private Dutch collection formed between 1954-1974; the property of C.S.J. Van der Molen-Beerenbrock (1934-2016); thence by descent to a Monaco gentleman.
