Description
JAPY FRERES FRENCH SLATE MANTLE CLOCK, brass eight-day movement with Japy Freres "GDE. MED. D'HONNEUR" trademark, bell chime; rectangular black slate case, stepped plinth base, incised decoration with gilt highlighting, circular beveled glass with brass bezel; porcelain dial with remnants of lettering, now illegible. Retains key and original pendulum numbered to match movement. Second quarter 19th century. 10 3/8" H, 9 5/8" x 5 3/4" OA.
Very good condition overall, chip to one corner of plinth base, one or two minute flakes, scratch across beveled glass. Runs for only very short periods, wound tight, most likely only needs cleaning or adjustment, otherwise appears to be in good order (see Catalogue Guarantee).
