8 Piece 19th c. Limoges Porcelain Cake Set marked CFH / GDM and potted between 1882-1890. This late 19th century set features a lovely spring green sprig pattern and is accented with gilt decorated rims. Cake Platter and 7 Cake Plates. The set was produced by Gerard Dufraisseix & Morel, subsequent to the takeover of the Charles Field Haviland Factory in 1881. Platter with handles 10 1/4"x9 1/4". Plates 6". Weight Hairline to rim of platter PROVENANCE: A Pawleys Island SC Private Estate. The well known firm of Gerard, Dufraisseix & Abbot (GDA) actually had a part of its heritage combining with the Haviland family. In 1881, Charles Field Haviland retired from his Limoges factory, and Charles Field Haviland & Cie was taken over by E. Gerard, J. B. Dufraisseix, and Morel (GDM). The new owners continued to use the CHF decorating mark but also used a CFM/GDM porcelain mark from 1892-1890.
