1. Elbert Hubbard, Genius of Roycroft, David Arnold Balch. Pub. 1940 by Frederick A. Stokes. First edition with dust jacket. Fascinating study in the apparent inconsistencies of Hubbard, who has been described as “…a combination of P. T. Barnum, Buffalo Bill, Mark Twain, Victor Hugo, Bob Ingersoll and Henry Ward Beecher.” Hardbound in brown cloth with no major faults. Dust jacket with typical chips and tears but generally complete. 5.75 x 8.25. 320 pp. VG plus in good plus jacket.
2. Elbert Hubband and His Work, A Biography, a Sketch and a Bibliography, Albert Lane. Pub. 1901 by Albert Lane (first thus). Early study of Hubbard, including an important bibliographic chronology of pre-Roycroft and early Roycroft publications. Ideal for the Roycroft collector. Quarter leather with paper covered boards. 6.375 x 8.125. Chip and small tear at foot of spine. Tips starting to show with one excessively so. Small worn-through spot at one top edge and one bottom edge. Sunning to spine. Clean and solid. 154 pp. Very good.
